I spot three not-lowriders in this post.

Really? I only see one that can potentially not be a lowrider.

From wikipedia: A lowrider (sometimes low rider ) is an automobile or other vehicle modified so that its ground clearance is less than its design specification.

Usually cars with steelies or huge chrome wheels aren't classified as lowriders. The earliest lowriders might have had steelies but they aren't a part of lowrider aesthetics nowadays. Astro Supreme style wheels were popular choise before wire wheels came into picture.

I agree that wire wheels are a huge part of lowrider asthetics. However, some people either don't like or cannot afford a set of them, and instead go for other rims.

There's an ambiguity to that definition. Case in point:

Kinja'd!!!

This isn't a lowrider.

You're right. Stance stems from the Japanese VIP culture, whereas lowriders stem from Latin American culture.

That Olds and the Buick are pretty nice. I could fix them.

That's debatable. A lot of "Stance" modifications stem from race mods, but with more focus on aesthetic. I'm not saying you're wrong though. A sizable portion of stance culture has Japanese VIP roots. I just don't think its fair to say the entire culture stems from it. There are a lot of influencing factors in modern stance.

Fair enough. Although you can see why I can draw parallels to VIP-style cars. The idea of "Fitment" is carried across both.

Oh, definitely. Even with types of cars that would typically fall into a certain category, its sometimes difficult to see where the owner drew influence from.

True. In fact, there is an evolutionary step between Lowrider and VIP - Shakotan. It's low and crazy, but pre-VIP, and milder than Bosozoku.

I love that butterscotch color, and those wheel arches. So fucking classy.
